I get asked a lot what are the best seasons to catch different species of inshore and offshore fish. Let’s start off with inshore fishing. The best time of year would be to start around October through April. During that time period we usually try to fish for trout and redfish, black drum, and sheep head. During winter time inshore fishing we usually try to go in places that are permitted like the world famous Mosquito Lagoon. The water is crystal clear though that time of year they’re so it’s easy for sight casting, and leads to some really relaxing days out on the water.
Offshore fishing usually starts from April and goes through October, the season we’re in right now! Deep sea fishing can be very productive and you can expect to bring home a lot of fish to eat and a variety of them, such as snapper, grouper, triggerfish, & amberjack. It is also a good time of year to catch sharks along the beaches and big tarpon as well. The summer months are a really good time in Daytona Beach for deep sea fishing along the coast and most reeves provide excellent fishing it’s just according to how far you want to go to reach a certain species to make your day more productive. The further out the better the fishing is for deep sea!
Thanks for reading, enjoy your vacation here in Daytona and I’ll see you out on the water!
